The Lancaster YMCA FoundationPermanently Preserving the Experiences and Values of the Lancaster Family YMCA In Lancaster County, 9,462 children lived in high poverty neighborhoods in 2008 (US Census ACS survey). The same survey showed that 24% of families in Lancaster City are living in poverty! According to the School District of Lancaster's 2010 Annual Community Report, the district serves over 900 homeless students over the course of the year. And a 2010 survey of YMCA youth center participants showed that a staggering 23% of the children have at least one parent incarcerated. The Lancaster Y works to empower people and communities to learn, grow and thrive -- serving individuals, families, and all of Lancaster County -- not just those who can afford to pay. That's where the Lancaster YMCA Foundation fits into the picture. On an annual basis, income earned by the YMCA Foundation Endowment Fund provides financial assistance and other key support to the Lancaster Family Y.
