Did You Know?

The nation's oldest continuously operating camp is a Y camp! It was founded by Sumner Dudley. Long active in New York and New Jersey YMCAs, he took seven boys camping for a week at Orange Lake, New Jersey, in 1885.

Where Caring Staff Help Great Kids Build Strong Futures

Nature hikes, canoeing, frog hunts, campfires, and experiencing life in the great outdoors...these are activities that have lit up children's faces with smiles for years.

In each young person coming to Camp Shand for an outdoor experience, we see the shining promise of a brighter future.

To that end, the Y continues in its mission of instilling the core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility through its co-ed day and residential summer camp programs to campers age 6-15 and adventure and service-based programs to teens age 13-17. Nestled on 120 acres of scenic woodland in southern Lebanon County, and just 20 miles from downtown Lancaster, Camp Shand is also available for retreats, outdoor education programs, and special events. For information on any Camp Shand program, call 717-272-8001.
