The 2007 Triathlon
Like a silver medallion, the sun shone brightly on the Lancaster Family YMCA 25th Annual Triathlon on Saturday, September 8.

Approximately 350 triathletes from throughout the Midatlantic region converged upon Speedwell Forge Lake in Lititz to compete in the country's oldest YMCA Olympic distance triathlon. The event has been sanctioned by the USA Triathlon for the past four consecutive years and was a Mid-Atlantic Championship Series Race for the first time this year.

"The 25th triathlon couldn't have gone better. The weather was great, the volunteers were eager to participate, and the triathletes did a tremendous job. With no accidents or injuries, it was the perfect Y-Tri day," exclaimed Tom Baughman, race director for the past three years and associate director of the Lancaster Family YMCA.

The Y hopes to raise $50,000 from the triathlon. Proceeds will be used to provide financial assistance so that any child or family may participate in YMCA programs, such as after school, fitness, swimming, sports leagues, and Camp Shand, regardless of their ability to pay.
