Camp Shand Specialty Camps:
Resident/Day Campers ages 8-12 Here is the perfect way to do something special all week long. Specialty Camps are additional camp programs that provide an opportunity for campers to develop skills and techniques in one of many areas. Previous specialty camps have included: equestrian camp, mountain biking camp, fishing and drama camps, among others. Campers spend about half of each day in the "Specialty Camp" program and the rest of the day and evening with the regular camp program. Some regular camp activities will be replaced with specialty camp activities.
- SC2: June 23-27 Boating Bonanza - Fee: $50
- SC4: July 7-11 Archery - Fee: $40
- SC5: July 14-18 Art - Fee: $50
- SC6: July 21-25 Fishing - Fee: $50
- SC7: July 28-Aug 1 Survivor YCS - Fee: $40
- SC8: Aug 4-8 Mad Scientist - Fee: $50
- SC9: Aug 11-15 Drama - Fee: $40
Archery:
String up the bows its time to hit the bull's eye. Campers will send the morning on the range learning proper technique, safety, and equipment care. Practice time and contest are also included. Limited to 12 campers, 8-12.
Survivor Camp Shand:
Here is your chance to hone your outdoor living and survival skills. Campers will learn backcountry first aid, fire building , shelter building, nature foods, and lots more. Limited to 16 campers, 7-12.
Boating Bonanza:
Not enough time on the lake during regular camp? Spend the morning in the canoes and kayak perfecting your paddling skills before the camp heads out to Memorial Lake and the Swatara Creek to put them to the test. Limited to six campers, 9-12.
Drama:
Under the direction of our Music and Drama Specialist, here is your chance to be a star. Campers will learn a variety of on stage and behind that scenes techniques while preparing a a short play for the whole camp to see. Limited to 15 campers ages 7-12
Art Camp:
Turn your creative doodling into works of art. Campers will spend the week exploring different art forms and have the chance to display their works in the Camp Shand gallery. Limited to 10 campers ages 7-12
Fishing:
Cast your line into Penryn Lake and wait for the big one! Campers will earn safe and proper baiting and casting and put these skills to the test each morning. This camp includes one offsite fishing adventure. Limited to 7 campers ages 7-12
Mad Scientists:Don the lab coats and bring out the beakers! Here a chance for all you budding chemists to figure out what makes things tick, how to make silly putty and performed other interesting experiments. Limited to 10 campers 7-12.
