Camp Shand Team & Facilities:

Camp Team:
Cap ShandOne of the best parts about being a Camp Shand camper is getting to spend time with our fabulous team. Senior Staff are a minimum of 18 years of age. They are screened through background checks, reference checks, and an interview process. After this we come together for extensive team training at camp. During this time team members are able to get to know one another, learn all about Camp Shand, and plan activities and programs for a fantastic summer. Team members are certified in CPR and First Aid, and Lifeguards are certified by either the YMCA or the Red Cross. We also have a health officer and food service team on hand. Throughout the summer both campers and team members practice safety and emergency procedures. Our camp "specialist's team" has extra training in their specific area to provide a safe and cutting edge experiences for our campers. We are excited to have a group of people here who have different backgrounds and strengths, but who have something essential in common - they LOVE being camp counselors!

Food Service:
Cap ShandNo one goes hungry at Camp Shand! Our full time Food Service team plans and prepares balanced, nutritious, kids friendly meals. We eat family style and encourage good table manners. Besides three hot meals a day, we offer standard options such as cereal at breakfast, and a salad bar and peanut butter & jelly at lunch and dinner. We often have theme meals, and take the opportunity to incorporate education about "zero food waste" and composting with our campers. We recognize the importance of staying hydrated, and take many water breaks throughout the day.

Trading Post:
The Trading Post offers campers a chance each day to purchase snacks, as well as Camp Shand merchandise (such as T-shirts, stuffed animals and camp patches). On the first day of each week, we set up a Trading Post account for each camper, so that no one has cash at camp. We suggest an average of $20-$25 per week at camp.
