Y Child Care Center Reaches Keystone Star Level 3
Child Care Center

Child Care for Keystone Stars promoThe Lancaster Family YMCA Child Care Center has achieved a “Keystone Star Level 3” designation from the Pennsylvania Office of Child Development and Early Learning. This program recognizes and supports continuous quality improvement efforts of early learning programs in the state.

Programs earn a STAR 1 to STAR 4 by meeting performance standards pertaining to teacher qualifications, classroom and learning activities, partnerships with family and community, and program management. At the STAR 3 level, student developmental assessments are performed three times per year; teachers work with families and schools to make a smooth transition for children to kindergarten and staff receive at least three employee benefits which helps reduce staff turnover, among other standards.

My Y Story: Tahvion Hamilton
YMCA Camp Shand

Taz roundedIt’s hard to imagine a summer at Camp Shand without Tahvion Hamilton, (or Taz as he’s called by staff and fellow campers) who has attended each summer since he was six years old. Thanks to Camp Shand’s financial scholarship program, Tahvion can spend not just more time at camp, but benefit from longer-term, mentoring relationships with its staff.
